Welcome to the Deliberative Democracy VCC. We intend to a) design new approaches to governance that will be able to match the complexity of the modern world and serve the interests of we the people as a whole, b) experiment with those new approaches, and c) work to adopt those approaches that prove to work well. Democracy R&D has already demonstrated the effectiveness of the "Democratic Lottery" process for the legislative function via approximately 1000 experiments with counties, cities and national governments. We are just beginning to work on the executive and judicial functions but they also need to be redesigned if we are to have truly effective and democratic governance.
