Purpose of Place4Us: Place4Us aims at facilitating a global citizen movement for a better future of a thriving humanity on a healthy Earth. By joining Place4Us you are expected to support this overarching goal with your activities on Place4Us. Place4Us is designed as a virtual companion for a global citizen movement and supports collaboration of individuals and communities in this movement. Place4Us allows real-world individuals, organizations and communities to connect, share knowledge, develop stories and ideas, plan and document actions, and work together toward common goals.
Acceptance of the Terms of Service: By creating an account, using Place4Us as a registered user or a guest user, or participating in any of the activities on Place4Us, users agree to the Place4Us Terms of Service and the Place4Us Code of Conduct. Specifically, user are expected to abide by the ethos of Place4us, i.e., justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. Place4Us is a place for constructive and respectful collaboration in diverse groups and across the diverse user community.
Users, including guest users, who do not agree with these terms must not create an account, use the platform, or participate in any Place4Us activities.
Place4Us Users: Real-world persons or authorized real-world representatives of real-world organizations can sign up on Place4Us as registered Place4Us users. Chatbots or any other artificial or virtual entity cannot be a user of Place4Us. Any person or organization using artificial bots for impersonating real persons will by prosecuted to the legal extent possible.
Place4Us is open to user of all ages. Individuals under the age of 16 may only visit Place4Us or create and use a Place4Us account with the permission of a parent or legal guardian. Place4Us may require confirmation of this permission during the account registration process and reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts if such permission cannot be verified.
Because users discuss on Place4Us current events, social issues, research, and other topics, some content may contain material that users may find sensitive or upsetting. While Place4Us moderates content in accordance with its Code of Conduct, it cannot guarantee that all content will be suitable for every audience.
User Fees: Signing up for Place4Us is free and no user fees are being charged. Certain user established services may result in fees. For example, a community may decide to establish a scientific journal and charge handling fees for peer-reviewed open access articles.
User Preferences and Privacy: Place4Us provides users with information about what personal information is collected, why it is collected, and how it may be used on the platform. Users may control how certain information appears to others through privacy and preference settings. These settings include contents and visibility of the user profile, search discoverability, notifications, keywords, badges, roles, and participation in activities.
Collection and Use of User Data and Activity Logging: User activities are to some extent logged in order to derive statistics and to identify any potential issues. None of the collected information is used to make recommendation or to push information to users. Information collected may include:

Importantly, Place4Us does not sell any user data or share personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Personal information is only shared when necessary to operate the platform, comply with legal requirements, protect the rights and safety of users, or with the consent of the user.
Place4Us takes proper administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect user information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of electronic storage or internet transmission is completely secure, and users acknowledge that absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
User Contributions and the Place4Us Commons: All contributions a user makes on Place4Us are a part of the knowledge base of Place4us commonly owned by all users of Place4Us. Depending on the service on Place4Us, items published may inherently become part of the Place4Us commons or remain data owned by you. For example, a file uploaded to MyFiles of a user is property of the user. However, if the file is included in, for example, an article published in a journal in the Bark Corner, then this file becomes part of the Place4Us commons.
Closing a User Account: Users can close their account at any time. If a user leaves Place4Us, not all information and documents provided by this user can be deleted. Any of data that becames part of the Place4Us commons cannot be deleted. No data provided by a user will be deleted automatically when an account is closed. All documents and contributions a user wants to delete will have to be manually deleted by closing the user account.
