While Place4Us has many fully functional and operational parts, there is still considerable development on-going and planned. An overview of the status is given in the separate box below. If you are interested in contributing to the development of Place4Us conceptual, you can sign up for the Place4Us VCC. In this VCC, we are discussing many conceptual aspects of the design of Place4Us and we welcome your contribution. In this VCC, you may want to participate in some of the Deliberation Rooms. There are also many options to provide feedback within VCCs.

Place4Us is developed and maintained by the Earth Viability Center (EVC). The EVC is in the process of developing a consortium of organizations and individuals as the owners of the EVC. The plenary of the consortium members will the main decision body in the EVC. If you are interested in becoming a member of the EVC Consortium, please check the details on the Consortium page.

• Virtual Buddy: The VB is extremely helpful for a rapid navigation across the platform. The VB can beam users who are members of serveral VCC between those VCCs and also directly to recent activities that might be of interest for a user.
• Virtual Community Centers: VCCs can be set up in a rather simple procedure on the Open New VCC page. A user needs to be logged in to set up a new VCC. After setting up, the user is the VCC adinistrator and can design the VCC according to the needs of the community the user represents. Many of the available floors are operational, but a few are still under development.
• Town Square:
  • The Bark corner has many operational corners. Importantly, in the corner for Periodicals, newspapers, newsletters, magazines and journals can be set up and managed. Depending on the periodical, authors can submit manuscripts. Currently, the peer-reviewing process has not been implemented completely. Editors have to make decisions on manuscripts based on external reviews or own reviewing.
  • The Roar corner has not been developed.
  • The Scream corner allows for screams to be initiated by the system administrator and then users can add their own scream to an existing scream.
  • The Heal corner has not been developed.
  • The Stage has not be developed.
• Confab: The direct messaging system is operational offering chirbing by an user to one or more users, and Confab groups to chirp to group members. Confab is fully operational. What is not available yet is an app that would allow to receive and send chirps without being logged in on Place4Us.
• Mycelia: The posting servise has been conceptualized but not yet programmed.
• MyHouse: MyHouse has been conceptualized but not yet programmed.
• Blogs: Blogging is fully operational. Depending on authority level, a user can write blogs and publish these in VCCs or platform-wide in the Bark Corner on the Town Square.
